The testing and reporting on the quality and microbiological makeup of our municipal water supplies, and the testing we carry out for our private clients, are reliant on the accreditations we possess that adhere to national and international standards.

We're regularly audited by our peers and International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) experts who audit every facet of what we do to make sure we comply with all the applicable accreditation standards recognised both within New Zealand and internationally.

IANZ Accreditation

We are one of only two laboratories in Hastings and Napier that has IANZ accreditation for potable water testing. To achieve and retain accreditation we need to have a comprehensive quality management system (QMS), which is written specifically for water testing and sampling and is compliant with NZS ISO/IEC 17025:2018.

Taumata Arowai Recognised

We are one of only two Taumata Arowai recognised laboratories in Hawke’s Bay offering water testing services to the public. This recognition is only given to laboratories that hold IANZ accreditation.

All water suppliers are required to comply with the Water Services Act 2021 and the Water Services (Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand) Regulations 2022 and this may include a requirement to monitor the quality of drinking water by collecting water samples and having them analysed. 

Taumata Arowai requires all such testing to be performed by laboratories that have appropriate skills and quality assurance procedures. These laboratories, each with a specified list of water-testing suites, are recorded in the Register of Taumata Arowai Recognised Laboratories. And Water Testing Hawke's Bay is one of these recognised laboratories.

NZGAP Approved

NZGAP greatly reduces the complexity and cost of legislative and market requirements for horticultural growers. WTHB offers the water testing required by these horticulturalists and growers to maintain their certification.

The NZGAP programme is owned by Horticulture New Zealand on behalf of New Zealand growers. NZGAP is benchmarked to GLOBALG.A.P, which is the worldwide standard for good agricultural practices, and is a farm assurance standard accepted by retailers worldwide. In other words, those exporting fresh food need NZGAP certification to sell their produce.
