Effluent & Trade Waste

Effluent and trade waste water testing includes industrial run-off, water discharge at hospitals, restaurants, tanneries, wineries, or  processing plants. Essentially, we're referring to water flowing into sewers and stormwater systems, and other public waterways.

Discharge Sample Collection

When it comes to effluent and trade waste water testing we collect samples from the point where the discharge occurs, after any filtering or treatment, and as the water leaves a property. In other words, where the wastewater enters public waterways or another property, eg. across paddocks or into creeks and tributaries.

Types of Effluent & Trade Waste

In addition to the above examples, this category also includes timber treatment plants, truck washes and overflow discharge from septic tanks. The testing suites applied in the lab for these water samples is specific to the source of the water and the consent or other regulations governing that land or business. Tests we conduct may look for high levels of detergents, metals, and other chemicals such as nitrates on feedlots and dairy farms.

However, it is up to our clients to decide what to do with these findings as the reporting of opinion and interpretation is outside of the scope of our IANZ accreditation. We are able to refer clients onto consultants for advice and solutions but we do not offer those services ourselves.
